Dear Researcher,
I would like to draw your attention to 2 EVENTS being organised by the FET
Proactive Unit in the European Commission related to the upcoming 5th ICT
Call for Proposals ("Call 5") in the 7th Framework Programme.
1)
An INFORMATION DAY for topics in Call 5 related to Future and Emerging
Technologies,
to be held on 24 June 2009 in Brussels from 9:00 to 17:30.

2)
The Interactive Workshop on "TOWARDS ZERO-POWER ICT" (Call 5 objective),
to be held on 23 June 2009 in Brussels from 13:00 to 18:00.

1) Information Day
The following themes will be addressed in the call 5:
ICT-2009.8.4 Human Computer Confluence (HC-CO)
- research on new ways for humans and computers to communicate with each
other
ICT-2009.8.5 Self-Awareness in Autonomic Systems (AWARENESS)
- research on how to optimise the overall performance and resource usage of
systems in response to changing conditions
ICT-2009.8.6 Towards Zero-Power ICT (2Zerop)
- research on how to harness energy at the nanoscale and its use in ultra
low power systems
ICT-2009.8.9 Coordination Communities, Plans & Actions in FET Proactive
initiatives
ICT-2009.8.10 Identifying new research topics, Assessing emerging global S&T
trends in ICT for future FET Proactive Initiatives
This information day on 24 June 2009 is for those potentially interested in
being involved in proposals.

2) Interactive Workshop on "TOWARDS ZERO-POWER ICT"
The aim of the workshop is to elaborate a shared understanding of visions
and opportunities related to the 2zeroP objective and to provide a
background document giving inspiration to researchers interested in engaging
in this new FET research area. The workshop will be held on the day before
the information day in the afternoon of 23rd June, in Brussels.
